Gerald F. Goss, 93, of Oblong, IL (The Bend Area) passed away on Saturday September 1, 2018 at his residence.
He was born in Jasper County on March 22, 1925 to Louis Goss and Mary (Menacher) Goss. On April 11, 1948 he married Jean (Yager) Goss who survives.
Gerald was a lifelong farmer in the Jasper County area. He served in the United States Marines during WWII. He was a member of the South Bend Congregational Christian Church and the Saint Marie American Legion. Gerald enjoyed gardening and cutting firewood.
He is survived by his wife Jean Goss, Bend Area; two sons and daughters-in-law Robert and Celina Goss, Flat Rock, IL, Rick and Kimberly Goss, Bend Area; two daughters and sons-in-law Susan and Steve Steber, Dundas, IL, Vicki and Jerry Rubsam, Newton, IL. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; twenty four great-grandchildren; three brothers and sister-in-law Wilmer Goss, Detroit, MI, Dan Goss, Bend Area, and Cloyce and Bonnie Goss, Bend Area; five sisters and two brothers-in-law Dorothy Campbell, LeRoy, IL, Mary Catherine and Ted West, MI, Betty Moore, LeRoy, IL, Emma Burbank, Lakeland, FL, and Judy and Joe Lampkin, Mustang, OK along with several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother Joe Goss, a sister Hattie Yager and a great-grandson Evan Rubsam.
